Review Video & Follow These Instructional Guidelines

Fourth Grade

Reflexive pronouns sound complicated, but we use them in everyday speech without thinking!  The GrammarSong video “Reflexive Pronouns” begins with the phrase “Reflexive pronouns are such selfish words…” in order to emphasize that all reflexive pronouns have a form of the word “self” in them.  The catchy melody, along with the return of the “Antonym” video character make reflexive pronouns easy to remember long term.  The simple grammar sheets support the concept in both hands-on and paper/pencil forms.
  • Play “Reflexive Pronoun Matching” and complete grammar sheets “Using Reflexive Pronouns” and “Understanding Reflexive Pronouns.”
  1. Extra Engagement: Use the information presented within the sheets to model sentences on a whiteboard or smartboard to create a whole class lesson.  Cut the sheet apart, gluing the related answers from the answer key on the back to use within a cooperative learning structure or as a self-checking center activity.
