Helping, or auxiliary, verbs can be confusing to identify due to their abstract nature. Many helping verbs can also be linking verbs, so it is imperative to have a firm grasp of both action and linking verbs before moving into helping verbs. Good writers naturally use helping verbs to modify the tense or mood they are creating. The “Helping Verbs” GrammarSongs video provides examples of helping verbs being used within the lyrics, and provides content to explain what helping verbs do. |
